Last night around 2200 or so while I was digging a hole to poop in, the full moon peeked through the cloud cover and bathed the desert scape in an otherwordly glow. It was quite an enchanting poop.
This morning on our way back into the dam, the floodgates were open and it was like an entirely different place.
I’ve learned that ramen tastes better when you can’t feel your feet. With my belly full of warm noodles and hot chocolate (with tiny marshmallows), I’m able to think of this morning as ‘crisp’ rather than ‘frigid.’ Have these seagulls always been here, I wonder, or am I only just noticing them for the first time? How could I not notice seagulls in this place?
Kunta Kinte asked a cricket to send a message home. Maybe I’ll ask these seagulls to do the same. I guess that really didn’t work out that well for Kunta Kinte, though, did it? Guess I’ll just have to rely on the internet: Happy Whatever-Today-Is Day!
